Intro
I didn’t become a coach because fitness came easy to me.
I became a coach because it saved my life.
This is not a story about abs, trophies, or ego.
It’s a story about losing everything that once defined me—and rebuilding it through faith, discipline, and transformation.
Like many men, I grew up idolizing warriors—Arnold. Stallone. Ferrigno. Dorian Yates. Men who embodied strength, discipline, and presence.
I also carried a deep desire to play football. After years of pleading, my father agreed to let me play—on one condition: I had to start lifting weights. He bought me a Joe Weider cement weight set.
In our basement, armed with nothing but grit, Muscle & Fitness magazines, and discipline, I began forging my body—and unknowingly, my character.
That commitment carried me far. My pursuit of football and physical excellence earned me a nomination to the United States Military Academy at West Point.
But the road wasn’t smooth.
After surviving basic training, I was cut from the Division I football team for being undersized. It crushed me—but it didn’t break me.
I was invited onto the NCAA Army Sprint Football Team, where I immersed myself in strength development and nutrition. That year, I became one of only two freshmen to earn a varsity letter.
I planned to bulk up through rugby, return stronger, and reclaim my shot at football.
God had a different plan for me.
A severe shoulder injury ended my contact sports career overnight. What felt like devastation was actually redirection.
Instead of leaving the Academy, I was invited to join the Army Strength Team—training Division I football, basketball, and hockey athletes.
I studied advanced strength development protocols, became a student of human physiology, and rebuilt my own body through rehabilitation.
By my senior year, I was elected Strength Team Captain.
By graduation, my physique and knowledge caught the attention of Army’s head strength coach—a former bodybuilder—who encouraged me to pursue bodybuilding after my military service.
While serving as an Army Aviation Officer, I trained relentlessly for six more years. In 2003, I stepped on stage for the first time and placed 2nd at the Southern Isles Championships in Savannah, Georgia.
On the outside, I looked strong.
On the inside, I was unraveling.
I never properly dealt with the mental trauma from my military career. I buried it. I ignored it. I tried to out-train it.
Eventually, everything collapsed.
After 11 years, my marriage ended. And with it went every identity I had built my sense of worth around:
I was broken. Spiritually empty. Out of shape. Lost. Emasculated.
I didn’t know who I was anymore—or why I was here.
At rock bottom, no program saved me.
God did.
On my knees, stripped of pride, I asked Him to show me how to rebuild what was destroyed. Step by step—through discipline, surrender, suffering, and faith—He answered.
I wasn’t just training my body.
I was renewing my mind.
Romans 12:2 became real: casting off the old self and allowing God to transform me from the inside out.
I didn’t chase abs.
I reclaimed my Warrior ethos.
As my spirit healed, my body followed. My physique became a reflection of internal restoration—discipline aligned with purpose, strength rooted in faith.
At 50 years old, after four years of focused, grateful preparation, I returned to the bodybuilding stage—22 years after walking away.
The results were never about ego.
These victories earned me my IFBB Pro League Card.
Not for recognition.
But as a testimony to God’s glory—and what’s possible when a man refuses to stay broken.
Today, I am:
I don’t coach from theory alone.
I coach from scars, discipline, faith, and lived transformation.
My mission is simple:
To help men and women rise from the same pit I once lived in—physically, mentally, and spiritually—so they can rebuild their bodies, renew their minds, reclaim their identity, and step fully into their God-given purpose.
God specializes in comeback stories.
He has called me to help reconnect people with Him through the discipline of training—so they can rebuild their physiques, restore their confidence, and become the warriors their families, children, and communities need.
Your past does not disqualify you.
Your pain can become your purpose.
And your comeback can start today.
